Bamon AU | The Nightmare

He couldn’t figure out what the look on her face was. No one had ever looked at him like that before, he thought.

But then her eyes were wide and uncertain upon him before flicking down to stare at her stomach. A garish crimson blossom bloomed across the pale fabric of her shirt.

She stumbled back, thrown from the column of light they had been standing in, falling into the darkness around them.

Trapped, his legs immobile as stone, he felt hoarse from shouting for her.

The light grew unbearable in its intensity, and he struggled to make out her form as she clutched her abdomen and crumpled to the ground.

And then she was gone.

Damon flung himself up from his bed, breathless and drenched in sweat.

Illuminated by the slanting columns of moonlight that poured through the windows of his bedroom, pale green eyes watched him silently from the doorway.

“Get out,” Damon said coldly.

“Her name. You mumbled her name.” Stefan’s brow furrowed in concern and Damon wanted to slap it back into place.

Instead he kicked his legs over the edge of the bed and ran his hands through his hair distractedly. “I spent months in a time-looped hellscape, I think I’m entitled to talk in my sleep once or twice.”

“No,” Stefan said. “Not once or twice. Over and over. Every night since you got back… Just her name.”

“I thought I told you to get out.” A menacing edge crept into his voice.

Stefan shook his head and walked into the hallway, shutting the door behind him.
